Fallout New Vegas Ncr Ranger Armor Mod
You're comparing an original game asset to a mod that predates the CK by months so it's done in a really hacky way largely involving a lot of base game assets and is effectively abandoned (last update nearly 17 months ago?) despite the author saying he's working on an update 4 months ago.And it's really likely that a completely finished, properly done version of the ranger armor will come out eventually either as part of the NV project or from Cascadia. And to be fair. NV's ranger armor physics were garbage. It's an armor I never understood the fascination for. It wasn't actually that well done in NV. It stretched weirdly, it made female characters look giant, and the physics wonked out pretty regularly making the bottom part of the coat (the only part that actually had physics) fly randomly around. On top of that it weighed quite a bit and was medium armor, so slowed you down.
I have seen this very ranger armor featured in the New Vegas project so I asume they will rather be using this to save extra work. Of course nothing is for sure, but that is why I didn't take that into consideration. As said I admire the author for his work. What I fear however, is that a more accurate recreation of the ranger armor from NV won't be made due to this very armor, wich doesn't look remotely similar if you're actually paying attention. Thats why I am posting this. To put attention to this topic in hope of better recreations getting made rather than endless worshipping of an armor piece that really lacks what made the armor from NV great.Perhaps you are right about that the physics could definitely need improvement, but atleast the coat weren't tied to the ground as with the modded one. Must wholeheartedly disagree.
The mod you mention does a pretty great job at bringing the armor into Fallout 4. Though I love 'The Mercenary' pack, its own Veteran Ranger inspired set looks like a cheap knockoff in comparison to this version of the gear.Yes, perhaps the mask could have been a bit slimmer. Yes, the boots and the lines on the body armor are a tad different. But does that really make the mod all that bad? And, going as far as to call the set 'lifeless', or to say it's nothing like the one in NV? That's a bit ridiculous. It's clearly the Veteran Ranger gear, anyone familiar with the game can tell that.
As it stands, this mod is the closest thing to an exact replica of the NV armor short of ripping the model straight out of NV itself. Becase it techically aren't aimed at the mod itself but at the lack of options. We have one inaccuarate recreation of the armor that I believe are stopping any work on different recreations of the armor. I don't put this on the authors page to force him to change the armor as I believe many will enjoy it as it is.
I post it here to show that we have no 'actual' ranger armor in the game. Nexus mod suggestion will also be a bad place to post it as it has been very dead lately.
